Why detoxify the body?
With today's diet we not only provide the body with valuable nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, but also absorb substances that can harm our health in certain amounts. Pollutants include environmental contaminants, such as heavy metals, aluminium and ammonium, which can enter food via air, water and soil pollution. These pollutants have the unpleasant property of accumulating in the food chain. These substances can also be found in our living and working environment, such as in medicines, cosmetics, household chemicals, dusts, vapours, paints, varnishes, solvents and disinfectants, technical equipment, water pipes and energy-saving lamps.
How do I detoxify my body?
A simple and naturally popular possibility of detoxification is the intake of natural minerals such as Zeolite and Bentonite in the form of medical products. These can bind harmful substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, aluminium and ammonium in the digestive tract like a sponge. Since these natural minerals themselves are insoluble in water and indigestible, they are simply excreted naturally with the bound pollutants in the stool via the intestines. The organism is relieved.
How does detoxification of the body work?
The natural minerals Zeolite and Bentonite contained in medical products have, among other things, the special property of selectively eliminating certain harmful substances through ion exchange and adsorption, for example, Aluminium (Al3+), Lead (Pb2+), Mercury (Hg2+), Cadmium (Cd2+), Ammonium (NH4+) and Histamine (C5H9N3) in their natural cavities and to release the minerals located in the cavities such as calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), sodium (Na+) and potassium (K+). Here is a simplified scheme of the detoxification principle:
natural structure of Zeolite:
What are Zeolite and Bentonite?
Zeolite and Bentonite are natural minerals of volcanic origin with a high silicon content. There are more than 100 different types of Zeolite. Clinoptilolite Zeolite is used for health and medical purposes. This microporous tuff consists of a crystal lattice structure with cavities containing cations such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. Natural Zeolite (Clinoptilolite) has been used for natural detoxification since ancient times and is known for its effective pollutant-binding properties. After the Chernobyl reactor catastrophe, 500,000 tons of Clinoptilolite Zeolite were used, for example, to encase the reactor and decontaminate water, soil, objects, animals and humans.
Bentonite is a white or grey-white clay of volcanic origin with a high proportion of Montmorillonite, which is characterized as a three-layer silicate with swelling properties (smectite). Montmorillonite Bentonite is very similar to Clinoptilolite Zeolite in its active properties. Bentonite has the ability to bind various pollutants on its surface and in the interlayers. Its special characteristic is that it expands when water is added and forms a slightly gelatinous consistency. Montmorillonite Bentonite was successfully used in Germany and Austria after the radioactive fallout due to the reactor disaster in Chernobyl as a feed additive to reduce radioactive contamination in meat and milk of farm animals.
What is Zeolite MED?
Zeolite MED are CE-approved, certified medical products made of natural Clinoptilolite Zeolite for ingestion - without any additives. There are Zeolite MED Detox powders and ultra-fine powders as well as Zeolite MED Detox capsules with purely vegetable capsule casings.
What is Zeolite MED used for?
Zeolite MED can be used as a natural bioregulator to protect health by preventing and alleviating symptoms caused by exposure to pollutants. Zeolite MED can selectively bind harmful substances in the gastrointestinal tract like a sponge and naturally remove them from the body. The indigestible Zeolite MED is excreted with the bound pollutants without burdening the metabolism naturally with the stool via the intestines. By binding e.g. lead, cadmium, aluminium, ammonium and histamine, Zeolite MED can be used to relieve the liver by detoxifying the intestinal tract.
Where does our Zeolite come from?
There are Zeolite deposits on every continent and the nearest high-quality Clinoptilolite Zeolite deposits in the EU are found in the Carpathians, where our Zeolite also comes from. The Zeolite deposits are mined in open-cast mines. The quality testing of our Zeolite raw material takes place in German accredited testing laboratories. Our Zeolite MED medical products and natural cosmetics are manufactured in Germany.
What is Bentonite MED?
Bentonite MED are CE-tested, certified medical products made from natural Montmorillonite Bentonite for ingestion - without any additives. There are Bentonite MED Detox powder and Bentonite MED Detox capsules with purely vegetable capsule casings.
What is Bentonite MED used for?
Like a sponge, Bentonite MED can selectively bind harmful substances in the gastrointestinal tract and naturally remove them from the body. The indigestible Bentonite MED is excreted with the bound pollutants without burdening the metabolism naturally in the stool via the intestines. By binding heavy metals (mercury, lead, cadmium), aluminium, ammonium and histamine, Bentonite MED can be used to relieve the liver by detoxifying the intestinal tract. Bentonite MED forms a thin protective film of montmorillonite gel when administered orally. This protective gel film gently covers the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, which reduces the effect on pathogenic factors and calms the nerve endings of the stomach and intestines. Bentonite MED is therefore particularly suitable for detoxification of sensitive mucous membranes of the digestive tract.
Where does our Bentonite come from?
Montmorillonite Bentonite is a common layered silicate. To date, around 1500 sites have been found worldwide, including numerous in Europe, our Bentonite is mined in Southern Europe. The quality testing of our raw material takes place in German accredited testing laboratories. Our Bentonite MED medical products and natural cosmetics are manufactured in Germany.
What is ZeoBentMED?
ZeoBentMED are CE-tested, certified medical products and is a mixture of natural clinoptilolite Zeolite and Montmorillonite Bentonite for ingestion - without any additives. There are ZeoBentMED Detox powders and ultra-fine powders as well as ZeoBentMED Detox capsules with purely vegetable capsule casings.
What is ZeoBentMED used for?
Mixtures of Zeolite and Bentonite combine the properties of both volcanic minerals. Experience has shown that both minerals complement and reinforce each other in their effect. Due to its crystal lattice structure, natural clinoptilolite Zeolite has a high selective adsorption capacity as well as molecular sieve functions towards different substances. Montmorillonite-Bentonite has the property to bind various pollutants on its surface and in the interlayers. It is swellable and forms a thin protective film of montmorillonite gel when administered orally. This protective gel film covers the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, which reduces the effect of pathogenic factors and calms the nerve endings of the stomach and intestines. ZeoBentMED can be used as a natural bioregulator to stay healthy by preventing and alleviating symptoms caused by exposure to harmful substances. The natural medical product made of Zeolite and Bentonite can bind harmful substances in the gastrointestinal tract like a sponge and naturally discharge them from the body. ZeoBentMED is naturally excreted with the bound pollutants in the stool via the intestine without burdening the metabolism. By binding e.g. heavy metals (mercury, lead, cadmium), aluminium, ammonium and histamine, ZeoBentMED can be used to relieve the liver by detoxifying the intestinal tract. The natural montmorillonite gel film of the contained Bentonite has a protective effect on the mucous membrane of the digestive tract.
Are Zeolite and Bentonite food or dietary supplements?
In the European Union, the internal use of Zeolite and Bentonite requires CE certification as a medical product. One of the reasons for this is that there is no legal approval for Zeolite and Bentonite as food or dietary supplements in the EU. Zeolite and Bentonite may therefore not be declared as foodstuffs and not as food supplements, but only offered and sold in the form of certified medical products for ingestion or consumption.
Which Zeolite and Bentonite is suitable for ingestion?
Zeolite and Bentonite are available in different qualities for different purposes. In the European Union, the internal use of Zeolite and Bentonite in humans requires appropriate testing and certification as a medical product for ingestion by a state-notified body (independent testing and certification company). With a medical product certification, the manufacturer proves the suitability, safety and effect of the Zeolite or Bentonite products for internal use in humans. Therefore, in the European Union only tested medical products Zeolite and Bentonite are allowed and suitable for ingestion.
How do you recognize a medical product?
The CE mark on the product. A tested, certified Zeolite and Bentonite medical product for ingestion can be identified by the CE mark with the four-digit identification number of the Notified Body behind it, e.g. CE 0481. Zeolite and Bentonite without the CE mark and the four-digit identification number of the state-notified body are NOT tested for ingestion and are therefore not permitted and unsuitable for ingestion.
What is a medical product?
Definition of medical products: Medical product means an object or substance which is used for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes for humans, whereby the main intended effect, in contrast to medicinal products, is not primarily pharmacological, metabolic or immunological, but usually physical or physicochemical. With the CE marking of its products the manufacturer of a medical product documents the complete conformity within the legal regulations. Depending on the risk classification of the medical product, a notified body must be involved whose identification number is listed behind the CE marking. In a conformity assessment procedure, the fulfilment of all requirements for medical products is verified, in particular with regard to safety, performance and benefits as well as monitoring of the product and manufacturer. The CE marking therefore also stands for comprehensive safety, performance and thus for the externally (neutrally) verified quality of the product.
Why not buy cheap Zeolite or Bentonite for internal use?
Because these are not tested by a competent, neutral, external testing and certification company for suitability, safety and efficacy for human consumption. Not every Zeolite and Bentonite is suitable for internal use. There are different types of Zeolite and Bentonite for different applications, e.g. for decontamination in waste management and nuclear industry, for waste water treatment, as auxiliary material in the building, paper, ceramic or mineral oil industry, in detergents, as bedding for cats and farm animals, as feed additive for farm animals and pets or as soil additive and soil improver in agriculture, cosmetics and pharmaceutics. Each sector has its own quality requirements.
What is the right grain size?
Zeolite and Bentonite are available in different grain sizes - from fine powdery to slightly crumbly - sandy. The smaller the grain size, the more effective the binding of harmful substances and the lower the dosages possible. The larger the grain sizes, the higher the dosages required. For example, very fine Zeolite with average grain sizes below 9 micrometres is given with up to 3 grams daily dosage and coarser Zeolite with average grain sizes below 35 micrometres with 6 to 10 grams daily dosage. Both grain sizes "work". This allows everyone to choose their preferred grain size according to their personal preference and the purpose of the application.
And what about nanoparticles?
The grain size of Zeolite and Bentonite should not be too small meaning that it should contain no nanoparticles. According to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, there are no cases in the research literature where the vessel walls of the digestive tract absorb or allow inorganic nanoparticles to pass through. In order to exclude possible risks as a precaution, we use Zeolite and Bentonite with grain sizes in the micrometre range in our natural medical products. For clarification: 1 micrometre = 1000 nanometres or 1 nanometre = 0.001 micrometres.
Is the intake of Zeolite and Bentonite harmless?
Yes, if Zeolite and Bentonite are used in the form of CE-approved, certified medical products for ingestion. The CE marking of Zeolite MED, Bentonite MED and ZeoBentMED as medical products for ingestion stands for the safety, performance and tested quality of the products.
Which is better: Bentonite or Zeolite?
Both minerals are effective pollutant binders. Zeolite powder can be stirred more easily and quickly in water. However, the protective gel film of the fine powdered clay mineral Bentonite could be helpful for sensitive gastrointestinal mucosa that tends to become inflamed. This protective gel film is formed, for example, when Bentonite powder is whisked or stirred in water. When drunk, the protective gel film of Bentonite gently covers the mucous membranes of the stomach and intestines, reducing the effect on pathogenic factors and soothing the nerve endings of the stomach and intestines. Bentonite MED is therefore recommended for sensitive mucous membranes of the digestive tract.
How long has Zeolite and Bentonite been used?
Earth in the form of healing earth from rock powder, clay, peat, clay, loess, mud and moor has been used as a gentle, natural remedy since immemorial times. Zeolite was discovered in 1756 by the Swedish mineralogist and chemist Baron Axel Frederick Cronstedt. The molecular structure of Zeolites has been known since the 1920s, which enabled their use for ion exchange. Since there were not enough natural Zeolites in the 1950s, synthetic Zeolites were produced in the laboratory. Today, natural Zeolites are also mined in large quantities and are of good quality.
Around 1890 the American geologist Knight explored a clay deposit in Wyoming (USA) near Fort Benton, which was named after its location "Bentonite". Besides its accompanying minerals such as quartz, feldspar, mica or calcite, montmorillonite is its most important component, which was named after its deposit near Montmorillon in southern France. Just like Zeolite, Bentonite is also mined in large quantities and used in a wide variety of areas.
Are there any studies and observational methods?
Yes, if you enter search terms such as "Zeolites", "Bentonite" or "montmorillonite" into the scientific database "PubMed", which is well accepted by the scientific community, thousands of scientific studies from the most diverse fields of application, including medicine, will be listed. Due to increasing pollution, detoxification therapies are important components of naturopathy, in which pollutant-binding natural minerals such as Zeolite and Bentonite are increasingly used. Thanks to the tireless work of Prof. em. Prof. Dr. med. habil. Karl Hecht, a German physician, scientist, university lecturer, today an active pensioner and expert in Zeolite and Bentonite, these two natural minerals are also becoming increasingly well known in Germany. In recent years, he has published several scientifically sound books (see book recommendations) on the effects and health-promoting benefits upon application of Zeolite and Bentonite.
For whom are Zeolite, Bentonite and ZeoBentMED suitable?
For the whole family to stay healthy.
For prevention: to bind unwanted pollutants in the digestive system even before they are absorbed by the organism.
For relief: The accumulation of toxic metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, aluminum and other substances such as ammonium and histamine can cause a variety of chronic diseases. The pollutant-binding and detoxifying properties of the medical products Zeolite MED, Bentonite MED and ZeoBentMED can be used therapeutically or concomitantly with therapy, as required, especially in cases of increased histamine exposure and histamine intolerance such as allergies, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver dysfunction or increased liver exposure due to ammonium compounds.
For whom are these medical products not suitable?
Zeolite MED, Bentonite MED and ZeoBentMED should not be taken in cases of severe renal dysfunction (e.g. renal insufficiency). In the event of a medical problem or restricted kidney function, the medical products should only be used after consultation with a doctor.
Are the medical products suitable for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children?
The worldwide widespread use of medicinal clay, Zeolite and Bentonite in empirical medicine has not led to any indication of a risk in use during pregnancy, lactation and in children. However, results of sufficient scientific studies in the sense of orthodox medicine are not available. Therefore, the medical products should only be used during pregnancy, lactation and in children after consultation with a doctor.
Are there any undesirable side effects?
Clinoptilolite Zeolite and montmorillonite Bentonite are non-toxic. In rare cases, constipation may occur if fluid intake is too low. This effect is dose-dependent and can be avoided by sufficient hydration and dose reduction.
Are there any intolerances?
There are no known intolerances.
What is important for first-time users?
Unless prescribed otherwise by your doctor, please start slow introduction with 1 daily application. If necessary, the application can be increased slowly to 2 times daily, maximum 3 times daily. Experience has shown that in cases of high sensitivity or longer pauses, the application should start slowly with lower dosages and should also be slowly increased to the individual maintenance dose.
What is important when taking medication?
After taking medication, a time interval of at least 2 hours should be observed.
Are vitamins, enzymes, hormones and useful minerals also bound?
No negative effects on the vitamin and mineral balance are known from scientific or observational studies and practical experience in naturopathy. Natural Zeolite and Bentonite can only selectively bind smaller molecules. Organic compounds such as vitamins, enzymes or hormones consist of larger molecules. Decades of positive experiences have been observed with the combination of natural Zeolite and Bentonite with other natural substances such as psyllium seeds, herbs, algae, vitamins and minerals.
The difference - Zeolite, Bentonite or ZeoBent?
Zeolite and Bentonite are both known as effective pollutant binders. The difference lies in the mineralogical structure. Zeolite, as a microporous tuff rock, has a crystal lattice structure with cavities and Bentonite, as a clay mineral, has a layered structure that swells in water and forms a gel film. This is also called montmorillonite protective gel film. When applied orally, the protective gel film of Bentonite gently covers the mucous membranes of the stomach and intestines, thereby reducing the effect on pathogenic factors and soothing the nerve endings of the stomach and intestines. Bentonite MED is therefore particularly suitable for detoxification of sensitive mucous membranes of the digestive tract.
Due to the different structure of the two minerals, there are also differences when stirring Zeolite and Bentonite powder into water: Add a teaspoonful of Zeolite powder to a glass of water, stir briefly and the mixture is ready to drink. As a clay mineral, Bentonite powder is very finely powdered, comparable to flour or pudding powder, which is likely to stick to the spoon and container. With the help of a whisk or egg beater, however, Bentonite powder can also be distributed well in water.
If you want to use Zeolite and Bentonite at the same time, you can use the ready-to-use mixture ZeoBentMED, which combines the properties of both volcanic minerals. Experience has shown that both minerals complement and reinforce each other in their effect.
Powder or capsules?
Powder is drunk mixed in water, i.e. you need a teaspoon and a drinking vessel. The taste can be described as slightly dusty to earthy. Capsules are taken with water and are therefore ideal for travel. Drinking powder mixed with water has an effect on the entire digestive tract. The vegetable capsule casings are not enteric, which means that the capsules release their contents from the stomach allowing the effect of the contained powder to begin from the stomach. If the effect is also desired in the upper digestive tract, i.e. in the oral cavity, throat, esophagus and stomach, the powder should be chosen.
Zeolite powder or ultra-fine powder?
We have two different Zeolite grain sizes: as powder or ultra-fine powder. The slightly coarser powder leaves a slightly crumbly feeling, as is observed in classic medicinal clays. The slightly finer powder is ultra-fine.
Dosage examples?
Depending on requirements, the product can be used for days, weeks or months. Powders and ultrafine powders can be easily dissolved in water from mushy to thin liquid as required. When stirring the fine powdered Bentonite powder into water, the use of a whisk, stirrer or egg beater is very helpful. The dosage is carried out individually by slow introduction and depending on the weight, e.g.:
Powder: |
1 heaped teaspoon, 1 to 3 times daily, as needed |
Ultra-fine powder: |
½ a teaspoon, 1 to 3 times daily, as needed |
Capsules: |
1 to 2 capsules, 1 to 3 times daily, as needed |
Quantity requirement examples?
With a maximum of 3 times daily use for 2 months
Powder: |
e.g. 3x per day 1 heaped teaspoon powder = approx. 10g x 60 days = 600g powder |
Ultra-fine powder: |
e.g. 3x daily ½ Teaspoon = approx. 3g x 60 days = 180g ultra-fine powder |
Capsules: |
e.g. 3 x daily 2 capsules = 6 capsules x 60 days = 360 capsules |
Can or MIRON glass?
The plasticizer-free cans are lightweight and practical, especially when you're on the go. MIRON glass, a dark violet energy storage glass, offers a completely new perspective as a packaging material. It allows only violet, ultraviolet and infrared light into the glass interior. Measurements show that violet light has the highest oscillation frequency (705 trillion Hertz) of all colours and is the most energy-rich. This unique spectral range of the MIRON glass optimally protects and energizes the molecular structure of the content from the weakening influences of light. Organic substances in MIRON glass, for example, are more durable. The MIRON glasses can easily be refilled through their wide opening.
External applications?
We also manufacture Zeolite for external use, in natural cosmetics, known as as Zeolite MED toothpaste and body lotion. Further external application examples for Zeolite and Bentonite powder:
- as body and foot powder
- as a bath additive for full baths (1 tbsp) and foot baths (1 tsp) which makes the water softer
- diluted in water until mushy, apply to affected areas, cover with compresses and allow working time e.g. overnight
- for skin care, take a pinch of ultra-fine powder in the palm of your hand, mix with skin care cream and apply as usual
- for masks mix 1 teaspoon powder with some water, apply thinly, rinse after 10 - 15 min.

For example, very fine Zeolite with average grain sizes below 10 micrometres is given with up to 3 grams daily dosage and coarser Zeolite with average grain sizes below 30 micrometres with 6 to 10 grams daily dosage.
